Important information
- Additional Info:BBB has received information that this business's identity is being used to perpetuate a fraudulent check scam. According to consumers, the checks were mailed to them with directions to cash the check. The consumer was then asked to text information back to a phone number, and then follow the directions sent with the letter.
BBB advises consumers fake checks are used in a variety of fraudulent schemes, from employment scams to prize and sweepstakes fraud. In all cases, victims deposit the check and send money back to scammers. Scammers are often successful because consumers don't realize that crediting a bank account does not mean the cashed check is valid. Be advised that cashier's checks and postal money orders can also be forged.
If you have deposited a fake check into your account, notify your bank, and the bank that appears to have issued the check. If you are a victim of a Fake Check Scam, you need to file a fraud complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, BBB Scam Tracker, Postal Inspection Service and your state Attorney General's Office.
