About Us

Please contact us via email or phone.” The BBB serving Southeast Tennessee & Northwest Georgia is a non-profit organization (501-C-6) that is made up of businesses that meet ethical standards and are interested in seeing that consumers get a fair deal in the marketplace. We want you to be able to trust the companies where you spend your dollars. BBB does a number of things to advance marketplace trust: We evaluate businesses and charities based on ethical standards. We provide a forum for Customer Reviews; positive and negative. We provide free dispute resolution between consumers and businesses. We provide BBB Business Reviews for businesses and charities, giving them a letter grade to help you make informed decisions while doing business. We alert the public when we hear about scam’s, We provide educational seminars for consumers and businesses. You can find us on Facebook and on Twitter. Torch Awards For Marketplace Ethics

The BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics seek to elevate and celebrate the commitment made by for-profit and non-profit enterprises to the highest standards of leadership character and organizational ethics. The awards bring attention to the practices that these organizations employ to generate a high level of trust, among their employees, customers and their communities. The awards were established in 1994 and embody the BBB's mission of advancing marketplace trust. The Torch Awards for Ethics is open to for-profit, (and optionally) also to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations of all sizes physically located within BBB serving Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia service area. Firms need not be BBB Accredited. Non-profit, 501(c)(3) organizations must complete the BBB Charity Standards Evaluation process, and currently meet all BBB Standards for Charity Accountability.

Student of Integrity Scholarship

This was the 17th year for the BBB Student of Integrity Scholarship. The BBB is pleased to have built on the success of this program. The partnership and support of our sponsors, the community, and the educational institutions validate the program’s success. The BBB is proud to have awarded Ten $1,000 Scholarships for the 2021 winning Seniors. Winners were selected from the 95 Highschools in Tennessee counties Bledsoe, Bradley, Grundy, Hamilton, McMinn, Marion, Meigs, Polk, Rhea, Sequatchie, and Van Buren, and in Georgia counties Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Fannin, Floyd, Gilmer, Gordon, Murray, Walker, and Whitfield Counties. BBB 24th Annual Golf Classic

Check Back for UPDATES on the BBB 25th Golf Classic already scheduled for September 28th 2022. Better Business Bureau’s 24th Golf Classic was held on Wednesday, September 29th. Each Year we Honor a Business person in our Marketplace. This year it was our own recently retired President and CEO, Jim Winsett! 2021 Business Honoree, Jim Winsett, Retired BBB CEO just this last May. Jim has provided outstanding leadership as CEO of BBB serving Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia for the last 17 years and launched numerous programs that have had substantial impact on our community. As Board Chair Mike Webb has stated, “Jim has been the flagbearer of honesty and integrity in our regional marketplace. With Jim’s retirement, he will be leaving an exceptional legacy that will challenge all of us to strive for high standards in our lives and businesses.” We are all extremely grateful for Jim’s unwavering commitment to promoting BBB’s services and programs and wish him a very happy retirement. In addition to playing golf on a beautiful course, the BBB Golf Classic is a great opportunity to forget COVID-19; social distance with other businesses, entertain customers, and make new acquaintances, and meet potential new customers. The Golfers had opportunities to win prizes in competition. Again this year the Golfers had an opportunity to win Hole-In-One prizes at each 3 par hole including an Automobile Hole-in-One contest. Also, we again had the popular Hit the Windshield contest sponsored by ABRA Auto Body & Glass. We had great food and drink for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The annual BBB golf tournament is designated as its single money raising event of the year. Its purpose is to maintain a non-dues related income that is used for reserve operating funds in difficult financial circumstances and to further enhance a improve consumer and business education and prevention of fraud and scam activities in the marketplace.

Military and Veterans Initiative We believe that "Knowledge is Power" and "Financial Readiness equals Mission Readiness." Through the BBB Military Line consumer education program, we work to bring financial literacy training and tips, fraud alerts, and smart investing resources - we seek to equip those who serve, have served, and their families with the tools they need to navigate an ever changing and often complex marketplace.

Our dispute resolution program can help you resolve your lemon law complaint, and you don't even have to hire a lawyer. Our lemon law complaint program covers car warranty issues against participating manufacturers.
