BBB Investigation Results:
In September 2018 BBB investigated Pure Eco Solutions' business practices due to an interest in BBB Accreditation.
We requested the company provide information regarding their business location, contracts, sales presentations and promotions, sales representative training, and certifications.
The company was co-operative in providing background information and copies of their contracts, incorporation documentation and some sales promotion offers.
BBB expressed concerns regarding the use of prize scratch cards as they could be considered misleading to consumers. The company provided the following response: "On the back of the card it does state what is required in order to qualify for a presentation as well as the fact that in order to claim the prize an in home product presentation must be completed. Pure Eco Solutions does no door to door business. All of our appointments are prearranged and pre qualified, either by word of mouth or different advertising campaigns."

On September 14, 2018, BBB requested the company substantiate the following claims found on their website:
"Pure Eco Solutions is one of the fastest growing distribution companies in Canada. Our organization has been in business since 1977 and we are proud to be Canadian owned, operated and located." According to the incorporation paperwork for the company they were registered in 2015. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.
The company provided the following response:
The reason for the date of 1977 is because our head office TDC (The Distribution centre) we incorporated in 1977. This is the company that provides us with all of our material needed to operate. Examples of this would be: our chemicals needed for our testing, our advertising material, our equipment as well as much more. We are a dealership for The Distribution centre as a car dealership is a dealer of the manufacturer. BBB advised the company that they are unable to use the start date of their supplier as they are separate legal entities. Dealerships do not claim the same start dates as manufacturers.
"There are countless health benefits from drinking pure water, and to top it off, having conditioned water in your home will save you time and money."
Section 34 of the BBB Code of Advertising states the following regarding Claimed Results: "Claims relating to performance, energy and financial savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data. Based on the Code, we would appreciate it if you could substantiate, remove or modify the aforementioned claim. The company did not provide a response to this claim.
Additionally, BBB had been advised that consumers were being offered incentives to submit customer reviews. Section 30 of the BBB Code of Advertising (Testimonials and Endorsements) maintains that advertising which uses testimonials or endorsements is likely to mislead or confuse if advertisers compensate consumers for leaving feedback on third-party online blogs or websites but fail to ensure that consumers disclose such facts on those blogs or websites.
In response, the company advised When is comes to the reviews our customer are writing, these are all true reviews and testimonials. These are the exact benefits our customers have experienced as well as their honest experiences and dealings they have had Pure Eco Solutions staff members. Upon purchase of Pure Eco Solutions products our representatives ask customers is they would be so kind as to go online, weather it be the BBB, Google, or any other review website and write their honest experiences they have had. From time to time Pure Eco Solutions will offer the customer something for taking the time out of their busy days to review our company. These offers may consist of 1 of these. A deferral period on there financing, a gift card of some sort, a bag of salt for their water conditioner, or a years supply of filter replacements for their system. These vary from customer to customer depending on the circumstances. Many many customer are happy to take the time out of their day to review us without us offering anything.
We will be sure to let customer know from now on that if they are offered anything from one of our representatives to write a review that they put in the review exactly what they were offered.
Upon review of the company's contracts it was discovered that they are displaying the logo for the Water Quality Association, which is a trade organization that represents the water treatment industry. BBB was unable to locate the company on the membership list for this organization.
The company did not resolve all the advertising concerns.
