"Government Student Loans (as distinct from "Student Lines of Credit" that banks provide commercially)are Government social programs designed to provide access to post-secondary education for students who could not otherwise afford it. They are run jointly (to varying degrees) by the Government of Canada and the government of the student's Province of residence.
Servicing of these loans is done by a variety of organizations depending on the province, the age of the loan, and whether the borrower was attending a public or private educational institution. In some cases loan servicing is
provided by an internal government office. Alternatively, it may be provided by a contracted private sector lending financial institution.
Finally, it may be provided by a private sector business process outsourcer(such as EDULINX), which may deliver administrative services under its own name or under a government-selected brand name.
Because of these complexities in understanding who a given consumer complaint is actually in reference to, it is advised that any Government student loan complaints be directed to the appropriate Government office for investigation and resolution. (It is assumed in this case that the complainant has already attempted to seek resolution through the customer support and escalation mechanisms provided by the appropriate servicer, whoever it may be).
