On November 7th, 2023 and November 23rd, 2023, BBB attempted to send correspondence to 21A Estates Road, Lower Sackville, NS B4C 4G3 and advancepaving1975@gmail.com. However, our postal mail was returned as undeliverable. We did not receive any form of response. BBB Serving the Atlantic Provinces has concluded an Investigation into the status of Advance Asphalt Paving. The Investigation was prompted by several phone/email inquiries, one negative customer review, and one formal Scam Tracker report against Advance Asphalt Paving. After multiple attempts to contact this business via email, postal mail & via phone, we were unable to contact the business. Advance Asphalt Paving is reported for knocking on doors in communities and offering a discount on paving services, including a 5-year work guarantee warranty. Advance Asphalt Paving was reported in the scam tracker report field for tearing up the consumers driveway, then not returning to complete the work. In this one case, no payment was made by the consumer.
Tips to spot this scam:
- Be wary of unsolicited contractors who knock on your door offering services, especially if they only accept cash and/or require a large down payment.
- Do not make on-the-spot decisions about hiring a contractor.
- Select a reputable company and do your research.
- Obtain a detailed, written contract.
- Consider shopping around and obtaining detailed estimates.
- Never feel pressured to commit on the spot and don’t provide full payment for work that has not begun.
- Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
