Pattern of Complaints

On May 5, 2021, Better Business Bureau recognized a pattern of complaints from consumer regarding the business’ contract, and customer service issues. Consumers allege Evergreen Home Exteriors expects contracts to be paid in full even if the project isn’t complete, or the company will place a lien on the Consumer’s home in accordance to their contract.

Consumer’s further allege Evergreen Home Exteriors does becomes unresponsive to requests for refunds and warranty issues on work not completed, or not completed to satisfaction. BBB has also received information from consumers stating Evergreen Home Exteriors will file suit of defamation against Consumers who file a complaint or 1 star review against the company.

On May 26, 2021, Evergreen Home Exteriors responded to Better Business Bureau. The company is working with BBB to eliminate the underlying pattern of complaints by accomplishing the following:

Evergreen Home Exteriors does not expect anyone to pay for a project until it has been completed. As stated on our contract final payment is not due until the day of completion. We also have a 12 month inspection period listed on our contract. This gives our customers the peace of mind that if any concerns whatsoever arise, even months later they are covered! We even have an easy to use CRM system to file a request and pictures. This is for all warranty work as well. Communication is easy and you are able to reach anyone in the company at your convenience.

The only time Evergreen will place a lien on a home is if the contracted work is complete and the customer is not paying as agreed. Definitely a last resort and not our goal or 1st choice. It is extremely rare that it comes up. We love our customers and do everything we can to make them all happy with over 1000 projects a year there are bound to be a few miscommunications along the way. However, we are proud to say that we have never failed to resolve these issues.

Regarding refunds:

At times a customer changes their mind about having a project done. The contract that is signed at the time of order, as well as state law,  gives a customer a 3 day right of rescission. After that time has passed there is a legally binding contract in place. We understand that people can change their minds and we do our best to work with our customers on these matters.

With over 40-50 jobs at a time in progress we are extremely busy providing our ongoing projects with our full attention so it may take a little time to work out details on contracts that are not honored.

Regarding defamation:

We understand that every person has a right to express themselves in any way they would like. We do our best but not all reviews are going to be positive.  However, the law protects companies against maliciously false statements that can, without cause, damage their reputation. If a customer posts misleading or untrue information about our company we will use the protection provided to us by the law. That being said, we understand that there are times that customers will post reviews that are not positive. We would never do anything to impede that right. We simply ask that they are honest in their statements.
