On September 15, 2016, BBB received notice through BBB’s Scam Tracker from a consumer who alleges she contacted the owners of the website, http://www.brightyorkiepups.com regarding their Teacup Yorkie puppies for sale. The owner of the business, Kendra Mason, emailed the consumer back to say she had puppies available but she was giving them out for adoption. She stated the puppies were already 11 weeks old with no health problems. In addition they were well trained and home trained. The owner went on to say she had stopped breeding and wanted to take the time to find the perfect homes for her last four puppies therefore she was giving them away for free. She advised the consumer she could come to Spokane to pick them up or she would ship them for $400 each or $700 for two. She then asked the consumer questions and signed the email as Jessica and Jason. The next day, the consumer received an email from Bright Yorkie Pups stating they had dropped the dogs off at the shipping company and the shipping company would be contacting the consumer directly to make arrangements. The puppies were never delivered and continue to be advertised for sale.
In researching the business phone number and email address, BBB has found other similar reports. Two consumer reports online allege the phone number 253-256-5324 was also used by Sunrise Yorkie Home, owned by Adele Walker utilizing the website, www.sunriseyorkiehome.com which is no longer available.
BBB has confirmed Bright Yorkie Pups is not a registered business in Washington State. In addition, BBB has not been able to locate any contact information for the business. BBB found the website, www.brightyorkiepups.com was registered on August 11, 2016 and it’s IP location is in Ashburn, Virginia. BBB has also created a business review for the pet delivery company, US Live Express, which can be viewed by clicking here http://www.bbb.org/northwest/business-reviews/pet-services/us-live-express-in-spokane-wa-1000029473. BBB has reached out to the business and is awaiting a response.
As of March 7, 2019, BBB has found similar scam reports for Shinny Teacup Yorkie Home and Sun City Yorkies. BBB has found a trend noting the fake breeder uses a Spokane, Washington address and email addresses with the following components- [female firstname] jesus@gmail.com.
On October 8, 2019, BBB found the scheme is now being advertised under Wow Bull Dog Puppies at the website www.wowbulldogpuppies.com.
