Ad Review

On February 13, 2023, as part of an industry-wide review of CBD businesses in our service area, Better Business Bureau contacted Nature's Gold Botanicals LLC concerning the following advertising claims found on their website, https://www.naturesgoldcbd.com/:  

- "There is no longer any doubt that CBD has benefits, but the founders of Nature's Gold CBD experienced first-hand the low-quality CBD products that came with the upsurge in CBD's popularity as a natural remedy. " 
 
- " We strive to produce safe, effective, trustworthy products that you can rely on when you need dependable treatment options." 
 
- "CBD oil isn't just about CBD. The other oils used in the tincture affect its efficacy and tolerability. We wanted to find a way to make our products even more healthful for our clients, who are sometimes fighting a range of symptoms." 
 
- Testimonials. Multiple testimonials include unsubstantiated health claims: 
• "I was using another brand of CBD product and thought I was satisfied until I was introduce to Nature's Gold. My anxiety and insomnia are no longer a concern. I would highly recommend Nature's Gold." 
• "I have fibromyalgia, if you're not familiar, it is an autoimmune disease that attacks your muscles, joints, etc. and causes pain whenever it wants to. Every case is different, but for me, the salve that they sell is like no other. It has helped calm the excruciating pain I have been dealing with for years. I am so thankful to have found you guys!"
• "Nature's Gold CBD Pet Oil has done wonders for our dog Lily. Lily has autoimmune disease which for her causes inflammation of her underlying fatty tissues and pain, we had been using opioids and steroids to keep her in check which both have terrible side effects..." 
• "I absolutely love these products! The best CBD products I’ve ever used, they’ve been helping tremendously with my back pain, my anxiety, and has been helping me sleep. I couldn’t be happier with them!" 
• " Months before using Nature's Gold CBD I would go to sleep and wake up with non stop excruciating migraines , my anxiety was through the roof, I would have seizures... Now using Nature's Gold CBD, I’m feeling a difference and a bit of relief." 
 
BBB requested that Nature's Gold Botanicals LLC review its advertising and provide substantiation based on reliable, recent, competent testing for each of the health claims made and to discontinue any advertising that is in violation of FDA and FTC mandates for this industry. 
 
Despite written requests, as of April 10, 2023, Nature's Gold Botanicals LLC has not responded to BBB’s request for revisions and clarification in its advertising.   
 
Advertisements should be truthful, sincere offers to sell. Advertisers have a responsibility to have substantiation for all claims made and should be able to provide that substantiation upon request. All advertising that may mislead or deceive consumers should be avoided.  
 
Claims relating to performance and results should be backed up by reliable evidence. 
 
Advertisers should ensure that testimonials and endorsement are not misleading and represent the current opinion of the endorser. A consumer endorser’s experience should reflect what users generally achieve unless there is a clear and conspicuous disclosure of what the expected results will be. Advertisers should not include claims in testimonials that they themselves cannot make and support.
