Through intervention, outreach and prevention, YES builds confidence and responsibility, strengthens family relationships, and advocates for a safer community that cares for its youth.

Founded in 1968, Youth Eastside Services (YES) iscritical to our community’s efforts to stem the steadily increasing numbers ofchildren and youth in East King County with serious behavioral, mental healthand substance use issues. YES helps children and youth from birth to age 22,and their families, overcome the devastating effects of serious behavioralissues, mental illness, substance use, and trauma. We are a state-licensedCommunity Mental Health Center and state-certified Outpatient ChemicalDependency Treatment Program, and we provide comprehensive, evidence-basedbehavioral health services for children and youth from birth to age 22, andtheir families. YES services include mental health counseling,substance use treatment, treatment for co-occurring substance use and mental disorders,early childhood behavioral health, and psychiatric services provided on-site bytwo board certified child psychiatrists. YES has core competencies inaddressing the social-emotional skills and health of young people, and we alsooffer a range of education and prevention programming that supports youngpeople’s efforts to avoid negative and risky behaviors. YES is a regionallearning institution for clinicians, and Master’s-level counseling interns fromlocal accredited partner graduate programs, including the University ofWashington School of Social Work, are a part of YES service delivery.YES' service area focuses on the Bellevue and LakeWashington School Districts. In 1996, YES and the Bellevue School Districtfirst placed YES counselors in five schools, thus greatly enhancing youngpeople’s access to critical mental health and substance use services. Now, YESstaff members are fully integrated into more than 55 elementary, middle andhigh schools and teen/community centers across the Bellevue and Lake WashingtonSchool Districts, including staffing the first-ever, school-based health centerin East King County, at Highland Middle School.
