Licensing
A recent investigation of the company's facebook page they do remodeling and restoration work. According to the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) website, it was revealed that Peninsula Homeworx, LLC does not have a contractor's license as required by law.
According to the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) any contractor who contracts for work over $1,000 is required to obtain one of the following license classifications:
Class C contractors are limited to contracts/projects of less than $10,000 with an aggregate total of all contracts/projects done in a twelve month period of less than $150,000.
Class B contractors are limited to contracts/projects of less than $120,000 with an aggregate total of all contracts/projects done in a twelve month period of less than $750,000.
Class A contractors have no limits to contract/project size based on dollar amounts.
A contractor's license is not required for work that is under $1,000 with the exception of landscape irrigation and water well systems, both of which require a contractor license regardless of the dollar amount.
Trade-related work (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and gas-fitting) and elevator/escalator work, require that the individual performing be licensed for work that is under $1,000. Once the work hits the $1,000 threshold, a contractor license is required for the company.
On July 31, 2019 a letter was sent to the company regarding their lack of a contractor's license. As of the date of this Business Profile, the company has not responded to the Better Business Bureau's letter nor have they obtain a license with Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR).
Misuse of BBB Name and/or Logo
Peninsula Homeworx, LLC has been the subject of a BBB advertising challenge referencing a logo violation on their website.
The company's use of the BBB TORCH logo implies that they are affiliated with the Better Business Bureau, yet our records show that they are not a BBB Accredited Business. Their use of the logo without permission constitutes trademark infringement and is a violation of the trademark rights of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, Inc.
Upon request from the Better Business Bureau, Peninsula Homeworx, LLC has removed the BBB TORCH logo from their new website's advertising.

Peninsula Homeworx, LLC was first brought to the attention of the Better Business Bureau on November 1, 2018. A Better Business Bureau investigation revealed that Peninsula Homeworx, LLC does not have a current 2019 business license according to the Commissioner of Revenue for James City County, Virginia who administers business licenses for the service area of Williamsburg where Peninsula Homeworx, LLC is located, and is current and active with the Virginia State Corporation Commission. An Internet search of the company, principal, and address revealed no adverse information on the company nor principal. A viral search of the address on file with the BBB was revealed to be a private residence. The company has had no reports posted to the BBB's ScamTracker page: https://www.bbb.org/scamtracker/us.
