          Advertising Review

          On January 4, 2019, BBB contacted Blue Jug Waco about their testimonials and advertised claims regarding the benefits of alkaline water on their website https://bluejug.com. 

          Blue Jug additionally advertises alkaline water gradually help reduce acid waste, harm in taking showers with chlorinated water.  advertises alkaline water reduces "acid wastes is reverse aging... consuming regularly helps to gradually reduce the accumulated acid wastes.    

          BBB also found claims on Blue Jug's blog post that included statements that early research published in the medical journal Bone found that pH value could affect bone resorption.  Additionally alleging that studies stated that alkaline water may have benefits for people with diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.  Additionally the post mentioned that proponents of alkaline water believe in that alkaline water has health benefits such as anti-aging properties, cancer resistance, immune system support, colon cleansing properties, hydration, skin health and other detoxifying properties as well as weight loss.  BBB requested if Blue Jug could substantiate these benefits as these benefits could also be specific to consumers by just drinking more water.   

          Finally Blue Jug advertised side effects of consuming water with an unstable and artificial PH is nervous tension, over-alkalization of the digestive system, and compromised immune function along with other side effects involving rats from a clinical study.  BBB requested substantiation of these statements and for any citations to be included of studies done for these results for BBB to review. 

          Blue Jug Waco did not respond to BBB's request for substantiation or revisions.
