Additional Information for Fit-Life MD

On July 16, 2021, BBB contacted the business regarding advertised claims on their website https://fit-lifemd.com.  Fit-Life MD advertises claimed results regarding their services including:

“Ask about our Anti-obesity drug AOD-9406 which has been clinically proven to help you lose fat without the need to starve yourself, unlike HCG which has been used for years for assisted weight loss.”  Fit-Life MD provided BBB with articles about AOD-9406.  BBB did not consider the articles to substantiate the advertised claimed results as the studies were only done on mice and did not specify the details of the randomized controlled studies.  

BBB Code of Advertising states claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy, or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data.

BBB searched the Food and Drug Administrations (FDA) website and could not confirm any studies with AOD-9406.

Fit-Life MD advertises benefits of testosterone therapy including:

“Increase in libido and Strength of Erections, Increase muscle strength and Decreased fat mass, improved concentration, and memory, benefits in symptoms of depression by improving mood and overall sense of well-being, Testosterone makes you more energetic by increasing production of Red blood cell whose role is to carry oxygen from lung to the other part of the body which leads to improvement in fatigue and increase in stamina and endurance, (testosterone therapy) improvement in cardiovascular function, bone density, improved sleep, improved mental awareness and focus.”

BBB researched the use of testosterone therapy and found testosterone therapy is an FDA-approved therapy only for men who have low testosterone levels caused by certain medical conditions due to disorders of the testicles, pituitary gland, or brain.  Furthermore, the FDA states, “The benefit and safety of these medications have not been established for the treatment of low testosterone levels due to aging, even if a man’s symptoms seem related to low testosterone.”

Fit-Life MD also advertises claims Low-Intensity Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (LI-EWST) treats and is used to “restore better blood flow and natural function to the treatment site.”  BBB reviewed an article from the National Center for Biotechnical Information (NCBI) regarding (LI-EWST) and they state although results generated a significant clinical improvement of erectile function further research is needed.  Fit-Life MD also provided BBB with articles regarding Low Intensity Shock Wave Therapy but the article also concluded that longer term follow up would provide more confidence regarding the use of LI-ESWT.  

BBB found another article from AME Medical Journal which stated LI-EWST failed to show a substantial improvement in erectile function of patients treated with LI-EWST.

BBB Code of Advertising states claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy, or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data.

BBB requested Fit-Life MD to substantiate the advertised claims by providing evidence from recent, reliable, and competent studies or other objective data substantiating these claims or discontinue the advertised claims to address our concern.

BBB also requested Fit-Life MD to substantiate advertised claims “modern medicine now allows us to correct hormonal imbalances with the use of Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT). Bio-identical hormones are plant-based hormones that are identical on a molecular level with those hormones that are produced naturally in the body. By replacing these hormonal imbalances and restoring them to appropriate therapeutic levels, BHRT can help reduce and in many cases, eliminate the symptoms associated with menopause, adrenal fatigue, and other hormonal imbalances.”

BBB found A Cleveland Clinic article (my.clevelandclinic.org/health/articles/16979-estrogen—hormones) that states scientific data potentially links HRT to higher risks of heart attack, stroke, and other serious health problems including a study that showed a 50% increase in heart attack and stroke. Furthermore, the article references HRT increased the risk of breast cancer, heart attack, stroke, and blood clots in the legs and lungs.

BBB requested Fit-Life MD to substantiate the advertised claims by providing evidence from recent, reliable, and competent studies or other objective data substantiating these claims or discontinue the advertised claims to address BBB's concern.

Fit-Life MD also advertises Benefits of Growth Hormone (HGH) Replacement Therapy including reduced body fat and increases lean muscle mass, Improved bone strength, healthier blood cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure for a healthier cardiovascular system, boosted immune system, faster wound healing, enhanced kidney function for more efficient waste elimination, and increased energy.

Fit-Life MD also advertises on their website “Growth Hormone improves your bodies ability to burn fat and may help you tone and shape your body.”

BBB found in an article by The Mayo Clinic, “HGH treatment is approved in the United States only for the treatment of growth hormone deficiency-and related problems associated with HIV infection… HGH is considered a controlled substance by the Food and Drug Administration. Using HGH for a condition that isn’t approved, such as building muscle or as an anti-aging treatment in older adults is illegal.”

BBB’s research also found HGH has not been adequately studied for the long-term risks and benefits.

BBB requested Fit-Life MD to discontinue advertising this service if it was only used for an antiaging treatment or building muscle.  BBB requested Fit-Life MD to substantiate the advertised claims by providing evidence from recent, reliable, and competent studies or other objective data substantiating these claims or discontinue the advertised claims to address our concern.

As of August 10, 2021, Fit-Life MD failed to substantiate the advertised claims.
