Alert
In March 2022, BBB began investigating Accents of Salado’s
business practices. This investigation was prompted by a large volume of
consumer complaints alleging the business accepted advance payments for
furniture they failed to deliver. BBB
requested the business respond with an outline of the policies/procedures,
actions they are taking, and other efforts to help eliminate and address the
underlying issues of this pattern.
On April 1, 2022, the business responded, stating that its
records did not match the information on file with BBB. The business requested
a list of outstanding BBB complaints to contact the consumers. On April 4th,
BBB sent the company a list of outstanding consumer complaints. BBB did not
receive any subsequent responses from the business after sending the complaint
information.
BBB contacted the company again in July 2022 to seek
additional information from the business, including an update on the
outstanding complaint matters. On August 5, 2022, the business responded to BBB
stating that Accents of Salado sold its pending orders to Custom Furniture of
Texas and would no longer be doing business. The respondent indicated the new
business would be operating as Custom Furniture of Texas, as well as Custom
Furniture & Imports. The respondent indicated a new website would be
launched later this year and a new physical location is in the process of being
launched in San Antonio. The respondent also stated that the business wanted to
resolve all matters and all clients with pending cases would be receiving
certified letters from the new business’ attorney.
On August 8, 2022, the new business owner informed BBB
that documents related to the sale of Accents of Salado would be submitted to
BBB by August 12, 2022. This documentation was requested by BBB to ensure our
records are accurate and up to date.
Based on BBB’s prior research, we have been unable to
locate any formal information with the Texas Secretary of State or Bexar County
Clerk’s Office to assist us in deciphering the entity formation details for
Custom Furniture of Texas or Custom Furniture & Imports.
The business responded to BBB on August 16 stating they had been out of the country and would be meeting with legal counsel to discuss these matters further. As of August 22nd, BBB has not received any
additional responses from the business or confirmation that the promised
information was issued to consumers via the new business’ attorney. If
additional information becomes available, BBB will update the company’s
business profile.
