- Advertising Review:
On October 11, 2017, BBB Serving North Central Texas requested that the business modify or discontinue its advertisements on the company's website and social media offering "$500.00 Hair Code". The ad in question fails to disclose important terms and conditions that are not clearly and conspicuously visible on the company's website. The relevant terms state:
"Hair Love Dollars redemption value on any particular transaction can not exceed 50% of the purchase price. Hair Love Dollars will expire six months from the date of issue. Hair Love Dollars can not be used on financed or 'Hook-Up' transactions. Hair Love Dollars are non-transferable. Hair Love Dollars my be revoked, canceled and/or made void under any circumstance and at will by Her Imports."
The BBB Code of Advertising states, "An advertisement as a whole may be misleading by implication, although every sentence separately considered may be literally true. Misrepresentation may result not only from direct statements, but by omitting or obscuring a material fact."
The BBB Code of Advertising also states, "The composition and layout of advertisements should be such as to minimize the possibility of misunderstanding by the reader. For example, prices, illustrations or descriptions must not be so placed or displayed in an advertisement as to give the impression that the price or terms of featured products or services apply to other products or services in the advertisement, when such is not the case."
