- Pending Government Action:The following describes a pending government action that has been formally brought by a government agency but has not yet been resolved. We are providing a summary of the government's allegations, which have not yet been proven.
On December 21, 2016, a federal grand jury indicted Mark Demetri Stein dba Real Estate Solutions, Richard Bruce Stevens dba Texas Real Estate Services, Bruce Kevin Hawkins dba ERealty Mortgage Group, LLC., and Christina Renee Caveny with one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and five counts of mail fraud, stemming from a "foreclosure rescue scheme" they ran.
According to the indictment, the Department of Justice (DOJ) alleges the defendants fraudulently collected at minimum $242,000 from at least 70 distressed and vulnerable homeowners who were facing foreclosure on their homes. The DOJ contends these individuals and entities falsely represented they had legal authority to transfer deeds, and falsely represented that they had investors who were ready to assist with a quick "short sale" process with the promise to sell the property back to the homeowner with a new loan.
This matter is currently pending.
