Advertising Review
On July 22, 2021, BBB contacted VIP Total Health & Hydration regarding advertised claimed results of their services on their website https://viptotalhealth.com and Facebook page https://facebook.com/viptotalhealth.
VIP Total Health & Hydration advertises their “vitamins and products are provided by leading pharmacies and are FDA Approved.”
BBB Code of Advertising states the primary responsibility for truthful and nondeceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.
BBB’s research found IVs are compounded drugs, therefore, are not FDA approved. BBB requested VIP Total Health & Hydration to substantiate their products are “FDA Approved” by providing documentation or evidence the exact product they provide is FDA approved or remove advertisement to address BBB’s concern.
VIP Total Health & Hydration also advertise they offer the “latest advance in regenerative medicine” and advertise offering regenerative medicine services. According to the Federal Trade Commission, “no studies have established that stem cells cure, treat or reduce the severity of diseases or health conditions in humans. Apart from a few FDA-approved treatments, stem cell therapy is still largely experimental.”
BBB Code of Advertising states, claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy, or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data, and that upon request, advertisers have a responsibility to have substantiation for all claims made. BBB requested VIP Total Health & Hydration provide objective, competent, and reliable scientific evidence substantiating claims relating to regenerative medicine or discontinue the claims.
VIP Total Health & Hydration also advertises the benefits of Cryotherapy on their website, Facebook and Groupon including but not limited to:
“Benefits of Cryotherapy- When we subject our bodies to ice-cold temperatures, they will naturally go into a flight or fight response that is meant to keep us from freezing…. the body will naturally increase blood supply to your vital organs to increase oxygen and nutrient levels.” “Cryotherapy is the use of extremely low temperatures to treat symptoms…” “Burn 500-800 calories”, “Boost Immune System”
BBB Code of Advertising states claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy, or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data. BBB requested VIP Total Health & Hydration to substantiate the advertised claims by providing evidence from recent, reliable, and competent studies or other objective data substantiating these claims of your specific products or discontinue the advertised claims to address our concern.
BBB also requested VIP Total Health & Hydration to substantiate claims NAD IV Therapy can:
“Sharpen your mind, repair your DNA, reverse aging, boost your metabolism, and combat fatigue with the power of NAD IV treatments.”
“Enormous Anti-Aging Potential”
“NAD bathes the brain’s cells in nutrients and the result is improved brain health and function.”
“This improved understanding of NAD+ metabolism revived interest in NAD+ boosting strategies to manage a wide spectrum of diseases, ranging from diabetes to cancer.”
The business also advertises NAD treatments for Anti-aging, anxiety and depression, Foggy Brain, and PTSD.
BBB Code of Advertising states claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy, or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data. BBB requested VIP Total Health & Hydration to substantiate the advertised claims by providing evidence from recent, reliable, and competent studies or other objective data substantiating these claims of their specific products or discontinue the advertised claims to address our concern.
VIP Total Health & Hydration also advertise “Lipo-Mini injections promote healthy liver function.”
BBB found that studies proving the benefits of Lipotropic injections are scarce. BBB Code of Advertising states claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy, or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data. BBB requested VIP Total Health & Hydration to substantiate the advertised claims by providing evidence from recent, reliable, and competent studies or other objective data substantiating these claims of their specific products and service or discontinue the advertised claims.
VIP Total Health & Hydration advertise they offer “adjuvant cancer treatments with high doses Vitamin C! High doses of Vitamin C has been shown to help with cancer treatments and is more of a holistic approach to health care.”
BBB researched and found a double-blind randomized clinical trial directed by Charles Moertel of the Mayo Clinic failed to show any positive effects of high dose vitamin C in cancer patients. BBB requested VIP Total Health & Hydration provide substantiation of this claim by providing BBB with more randomized controlled studies to substantiate the claim or discontinue the advertised claim.
Finally, VIP Total Health & Hydration advertise claims their IV bags can prepare people for COVID and Flu. More specifically their Facebook advertise:
“Spending time with family or friends this Thanksgiving? Hospitals are preparing for a spike in COVID & Flu cases after the holiday get together. Let’s help you NOT be a part of that spike! Bring your family in this week to get an immunity bag.”
“Seasonal allergies getting to you? Are you frequently around COVID+ people? What about just the regular ol’ flu? We have the IV bag for that!”
