- Government Actions:Government Action: BBB reports on known government actions involving business’ marketplace conduct:Attorney General of Texas v. Kassi Business, Inc, D/B/A Tobacco Junction
The following describes a pending government action that has been formally brought by a government agency but has not yet been resolved. We are providing a summary of the government’s allegations, which have not yet been proven.
On June 30, 2016 the Attorney General of Texas, Consumer Protection Division filed a Temporary Restraining Order, Temporary Injunction and Permanent Injunction against Kassi Business, Inc, doing business as Tobacco Junction from two locations in Corpus Christi, TX. Court documentation alleges the business possessed and sold synthetic marijuana, engaged in false, misleading and deceptive trade practices, and maintain a common nuisance. Per the Attorney General of Texas, the packaging of synthetic marijuana contains no ingredient list or warnings despite the key ingredient being a highly addictive and dangerous chemical and Schedule I drug. By selling synthetic marijuana at Tobacco Junction, the business misled consumers into believing that the products are “safe” and “legal.” The State is seeking civil penalties for violations and to require the stores to close. A hearing is pending, and BBB will continue to monitor and update as more information becomes available.
