Additional Information for Happy Healthy THIN

On December 31, 2019, BBB contacted Happy Healthy Thin regarding advertisements on its websites, https://www.h2thindfw.com/ and https://www.happyhealthycentral.com, and other marketing materials.

Specifically, BBB requested the business discontinue claims that they can lose weight without diet or exercise and that the Happy Healthy Thin program does not cause hunger. Based on information shared by consumers in 2019, the weight loss program was a water and calorie-restrictive diet, which required eating less than 600 calories per day. Consumers also indicated the weight loss program required a purchase of supplements from the company and that consumers must replace oil-based shampoos, lotions, and other applicable hygiene items. BBB requested that the business amend advertising to disclose this information upfront, clearly and conspicuously to consumers. BBB Code of Advertising states all advertising that may mislead or deceive consumers should be avoided. In 2021, the business responded to BBB, clarifying it had discontinued any diet recommendation less than 800 calories per day. 

BBB requested the company disclose the financial interest of endorsers featured in testimonials when applicable. For example, the testimonial from Seth Hendrickson on https://www.h2thindfw.com does not disclose his financial interest to the company’s California-based branch. BBB Code of Advertising states it may mislead or confuse consumers if the endorser has a financial interest in the company whose product or service is endorsed, and this is not made known in the advertisement. BBB also requested the business either substantiate that the weight loss reflected in the testimonials is a typical result of the service or otherwise disclose the typical results a customer could expect. BBB Code of Advertising states it may mislead or confuse consumers if the experience represented in the testimonial is not the typical experience of those using the product or service unless the advertisement clearly and conspicuously discloses the typical result a customer could expect. In 2021, BBB confirmed the business added disclosures to its advertising as requested. 

BBB also sought additional information regarding the business’ guarantee policy, noting it previously advertised a “money back” or “satisfaction guarantee.” The business discontinued advertising a “money back” or “satisfaction” guarantee. 

Additionally, BBB recommended the business amend all advertising, consumer contracts, and communications to discontinue use “Dr.” or “chiropractic” and similar terms in connection with Randall Johns. This is based on the November 2017 Agreement between Randall Johns and the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners found at: http://www.tbce.texas.gov/BoardOrders/09359-05.pdf. The business complied with BBB’s recommendation.
