Effective September 1, 2019 A New Texas law went into effect that requires property owners to pay their insurance deductible as specified in their property insurance policy. Insurance companies will request reasonable proof of the deductible payment before releasing the final claim check to the policy holder. The new law also makes it a Class B misdemeanor (punishable by a jail sentence of up to 18-days plus a $2,000 fine) for contractors to pay, waive, absorb, rebate, credit.
