On August 3, 2017, Better Business Bureau (BBB) of the Upstate issued a press release alerting consumers about a local “pet breeder” business named Geeks Mini Schnauzers. The business also goes by Coly Pembroke Welsh Corgis, Coly Bernese Puppies, Destiny German Short Haired Pointers, Geeks Mini Aussies and Kelvy Whippet Puppies. Consumers are purchasing the puppy online, but later learn the puppy doesn't exist. After receiving consumers calls asking if the business was legitimate the BBB reached out to business by phone several times but the representative answering the phone hung up the phone after the first question. That the business was continue to use the address and inform consumers they were located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. BBB partnered with media to alert consumers.
