On August 8, 2023,, BBB of Western Pennsylvania requested that the business substantiate, modify, or discontinue its advertised claims on the business’s website and social media pages to comply with the BBB Code of Advertising. Below are the outstanding challenges which can be found at http://www.huffmansservices.com/ and each challenge below is referenced by its corresponding BBB Code of Advertising Principle.
BBB asked the business to substantiate the following statements:
Challenge #1 Refer to the BBB Code of Advertising Principle #1: Basic Principles of the Code
1a. This is the only way to proceed to receive a reduced prison sentence.
1b. I have been assisting prisoners since 1984.
1c. The truth, however, is that the only sure way of receiving a sentence reduction is cooperation with authorities whether it be directly or through a third party.
1d. Huffman’s Services is the only company in the United States that Specifically handles this type of negotiation.
1e. Richard Huffman, our owner, has more than 30 years of negotiating experience.
1f. Our experts are experienced at securing reduced prison sentences.
1g. “We may be able to reduce your sentence by making a donation to a charity of by arranging volunteers for an organization; or perhaps there is a victim that needs immediate assistance, or through a donation to victims; services”
1. Basic Principles of the Code
1.1 The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.
1.2 Advertisements which are untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, or insincere offers to sell, shall not be used.
1.3 An advertisement as a whole may be misleading by implication, although every sentence separately considered may be literally true.
1.4 Misrepresentation may result not only from direct statements, but by omitting or obscuring a material fact.

Claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data.
As of August 23, 2023 the above issues remain outstanding in the BBB’s request for revision, clarification or modification.
