Business ProfileforNorthwest Transformation
Additional business information
On February 24, 2019, the business responded to BBB stating they offer both a free challenge online and an in-person paid challenge. Consumers are invited to an introductory meeting where both options are presented. The business advised BBB that the free challenge does not include personal training. The business claims the $499 value for the free offer is based upon what a consumer would pay if they joined the in-person challenge, which includes personal training. The business could not substantiate they had sold the free online challenge in the past for $499.
According to BBB’s Code of Adverting, when comparing a former price to a sale price, the former price must be the actual price at which the advertiser has openly and actively offered the product or service for sale, for a reasonably substantial period of time, in the recent, regular course of business, honestly and in good faith.
BBB also advised Northwest Transformation that by advertising a “FREE 6 WEEK Challenge,” and then trying to up sell the consumer to the pay first challenge they are potentially engaging in bait and switch advertising. A “bait and switch” offer is an alluring but insincere offer to sell a product or service which the advertiser does not intend to sell. Its purpose is to switch consumers from buying the advertised product or service, in order to sell something else, usually at a higher price or terms more advantageous to the advertiser.
Despite written requests, as of April 02, 2019, Northwest Transformation has failed to substantiate or modify its advertisement.
