- Additional Info:On August 9, 2010, Potter Electric reported potential issues the public may be experiencing with the company phone number as a result of Caller ID Spoofing. The company reports consumers may be getting calls that appear as a Potter Electric phone number on the caller ID. Consumers may be getting calls where they hear dead air or offensive language when picking up the line. Potter Electric indicates these types of calls are not, in fact, coming from their company.
In relationship to Caller ID Spoofing, your BBB offers the following advice. Through caller ID, advanced technologies enable callers to transmit information about their identity with their call to landlines, cell phones and VoIP. Unfortunately, these same technologies provide avenues for callers to lie about their identity. Your BBB advises reporting any similar phone calls to the entity listed on your caller ID, your phone company, or your Better Business Bureau.
