BBB develops reports on charities that actively solicit for general public support. Based on public interest, including requests for information and search traffic on our website, BBB invites organizations to participate in an evaluation in relation to the 20 BBB Charity Standards.

This organization is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. It is eligible to receive contributions deductible as charitable donations for federal income tax purposes.

BBB|Akron Charity Review Program benefits the entire community. Not only does it provide valuable information to donors (private individuals, small businesses, corporate giving officials, and foundations) it provides a well-recognized means for local charities to be accountable to their donors. BBB|Akron Charity Reviews delivers well defined ethical benchmarks in the areas of Governance, Fund Raising, Finances and Program Services.BBB Charity Standards are applied to publicly soliciting organizations that are tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and to other organizations conducting charitable solicitations. The standards are not intended to apply to private foundations, as they do not solicit contributions from the public.Private Foundations typically do not solicit the general public, their funds come from assets provided wealthy individuals or corporations. Generally, the foundation invests income from theses assets to make grants to other Public Charities.Community Foundations include aspects of both Public Charities and Private Foundations. Like Public Charities they do accept and solicit funds from the general public, businesses and other communities. Like Private Foundations, they do not carry out their own charitable programs, they give money away to organizations that assist with certain needs within their community.
