Stated Purpose
Using sewing as a common thread, the non-profit Dayton Sewing Collaborative connects sewists, makers, designers, learners and manufacturers to realize new economic, creative and civic opportunities in the Dayton region.
Programs
Dayton Sewing Collaborative provides workforce development training for industrial sewing. They offer micro-manufacturing services of soft-goods as well as makerspace, and creative space. The organization collaborates on projects that benefit the Dayton community.The principal programs provided by the Dayton Sewing Collaborative are related to workforce development training focused on industrial sewing. The training is offered to participants free of charge and is based on curriculum developed in collaboration with local manufacturers. The Dayton Sewing Collaborative provides small and start-up businesses access to equipment and infrastructure to develop and grow their business. The Dayton Sewing Collaborate supports community projects that strengthen the community and fulfill unmet needs. These include projects such as: making and donating 20,000 cloth masks: pajamas for children entering foster care and blankets for homeless population and cloth tote bags for food pantries.
