According to information issued by this organization, Buckeye Community Hope Foundation (BCHF) was chartered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation with the mission of developing and facilitating affordable housing for low-income families. BCHF has created, owns, or operates units of affordable housing in Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, Nebraska, Tennessee, and South Carolina. BCHF also provides educational services, including developing and serving as the lead agency for YouthBuild Columbus, an education and vocational training program for Columbus' dropout youth which combines education, life and leadership training, construction skills instruction, and job/college placement. Students gain vocational skills by building and rehabilitating houses that are sold to low-income families for below market price. BCHF also operates GED-track Youthbuild programs serving Columbus and Hamilton, Ohio.
