On May 1, 2019, 6 Cincinnati-area used-car dealerships were named in an indictment alleging 22 counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud. The indictment alleges the activity occurred from approximately August 2016 until August 2018.
According to the indictment, defendants Daniel Seifu, Christopher Deveaux, Caleb Seifu, Timothy McCandless, Johwanda Leary, Ahaduab Begashaw, Jeremy Anderson and North Dakota resident Jolly Ata Pepper owned and/or had access to the dealerships, and used that access to obtain vehicles without proper titles and/or with fraudulent titles, then sold the vehicles at inflated prices that did not reflect their true values.
