Additional Info
BBB has received numerous calls from consumers and businesses throughout the valley stating they have received a phone call from (702) 421-5630 claiming to be the NV Energy Disconnect Department.
Callers have stated they've been told to make a payment within 30 minutes or risk having their power disconnected.
In 2013, NV Energy issued a warning regarding the same Disconnect Threat Scam from a different phone number.
BBB contacted NV Energy to inquire about such calls and alert them of the situation. An NV Energy representative stated that they do not call customers and solicit payments.
Consumers who may be at risk of having their power disconnected due to nonpayment will receive a 10 day and a 48 hour notice via US Mail.
If customers receive a call asking for a payment, they should refuse and call local law enforcement or NV Energy if they have additional questions. Consumers may also call NV Energy's Customer Service Department at (702) 402-5555.
