In November 2023, BBB investigated GE Filter Parts, https://www.gefilterparts.com/, business practices. This investigation was prompted by a scam tracker report. The victim purchased a water filter expecting it to be the “genuine GE water filter, as the website implies”. Unfortunately, once received, “it wouldn't work because it is a counterfeit part and doesn't have the GE RFID chip required to make it work”. When the business was contacted about the “counterfeit part, and they sent back instructions on how to take the RFID chip out of the water filter being replaced and put it in the new counterfeit water filter. I emailed back and said I still wanted to return it for a full refund, and they responded that the best they could do is a 60% refund.”
The victim also noted “the business name I sent money to via PayPal is "Boutique of wonders". The address on the package I received is:
Cindy Zhang
585 Johnson Ave #3D Bohemia
New York, NY 11716”
The GE Filter Parts website, https://www.gefilterparts.com/, includes a location address of 198 N. Main St, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. On November 30, 2023, the business located at this address confirmed they are not associated with GE Filter Parts and there is no company by that name at their address.
On November 17, 2023, BBB sent an email with the following questions:

- Physical location and mailing address (if different)
- Preferred method of contact (mail, fax or email)
- A brief description of the products or services your company offers
- Information on how and where your company advertises
- Copies of marketing materials provided to your customers
- Any additional information that would enable BBB to better understand your business
On November 17, 2023, BBB also attempted to contact GE Filter Parts by calling 203-220-1370. There was no answer and voicemail did not identify the number owner. It was not possible to leave a voicemail since the mailbox was full.
Email messages sent to the business have been delivered but remain unopened. As of November 30, 2023, BBB has exhausted all forms of contact with the business.
Update 12/11/23: Mail sent to the New York, NY address was returned as No Such Number, Unable to Forward.
