Government Action

The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.

According to the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) website, RJC Custom Construction has a Consent Order on file entered on October 29, 2019 citing the following violations:

- Change of business entity requires a new license, and
- Assisting another to violate any provisions of the Code of Virginia or combining or conspiring with or acting as agent, partner, or associated for another.

RJC Custom Construction had their contractor's license revoked, was fined a total of $1,350.00 by the Virginia Board of Contractors, and must pay the fine in ninety (90) days from the date of the Consent Order entry date. According to DPOR the company's contractor's license was revoked due the above mentioned violations and the company not paying their fine as of January 31, 2020.

BBB Investigation Results

RJC Custom Construction was first brought to the attention of the Better Business Bureau on February 25, 2019. A Better Business Bureau investigation revealed RJC Custom Construction is not required to have a business license in Currituck, NC according to a law for North Carolina that went into effect at the beginning of 2015. RJC Custom Construction is not required to have a contractor's license in North Carolina unless the work is over $30,000 according to their North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractor's. An Internet search of the company, principal, and address revealed no adverse information on the company nor principal. A viral search of the address on file with the BBB was revealed to be a private residence. The company has had no reports posted to the BBB's ScamTracker page: https://www.bbb.org/scamtracker/us.

On January 3, 2020, a letter was sent to the company by the BBB regarding their revoked contractor's license. As of the date of this Business Profile, the company has not responded to the Better Business Bureau's letter.
