Government Actions

Alaska AG vs. Simple Save

On December 8, 2022, Alaska Attorney General, Treg Taylor, filed a lawsuit against Simple Save Protection LLC, for sending deceptive mailers to Alaskan residents making them believe it was being sent from their vehicle’s manufacturer or dealer.

Several Alaskan consumers purchased the vehicle service contract because they believed they were dealing with a company they knew.

The mailers stated they were a “vehicle alert notice” that was “very urgent and time sensitive.” Other mailers claimed to be a “vehicle document/alert notice” from the “Vehicle Services Department.”  The mailers were used to create a false sense of urgency by telling consumers that a price increase would occur on a particular date.  The only identification of the company appeared in a tiny font at the bottom of the letter.

On June 12, 2023, Alaska Attorney General, Treg Taylor, announced a $45,000 settlement with Simple Save Auto.  The settlement will be distributed to Alaskan residents who bought vehicle service contracts from Simple Save Auto.

Pattern of Complaints

Better Business Bureau is advising consumers to use caution when considering doing business with Nationwide Automotive Service Center. BBB has received a pattern of consumer complaints alleging misleading advertising, failure to remove consumers from mailing lists and poor customer service.

On August 16, 2024 BBB sent a letter to Nationwide Automotive Service Center.  On August 21, 2024, the company responded to the letter.  The company noted that the number of complaints received by the BBB represents a small percentage of their overall customer base.  Their inbound call volume has tripled, prompting them to hire new staff across all departments to meet the demand and to ensure all consumer complaints are resolved in a timely manner.
