Better Business Bureau is advising consumers to use caution when considering doing business with Consumer Law Protection. BBB has received a pattern of consumer complaints alleging failure to honor a contract or agreement, failure to cancel contracts, failure to contact consumers, misleading sales presentation and poor customer service.
On September 25, 2020, BBB sent a letter to Consumer Law Protection with its concerns. The company responded on October 6, 2020 stating, “We are unaware of a “pattern of complaints” as you stated. Should a complaint be forwarded to you we will respond appropriately and process those concerns with the customer and work to find common ground with them and resolve the issue.”
Consumer Law Protection has not informed BBB how it intends to address the pattern of complaints.

In September 2020, Better Business Bureau challenged Consumer Law Protection's website, www.consumerlawprotection.com, which stated:
- “RECOMMENDED MERCHANT BY VOCAL REFERENCES”
- “Proven Success”
- “In serving clients, our attorneys…”
- “Credit Repair”
According to BBB Code of Advertising, “The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB. Advertisements which are untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, or insincere offers to sell, shall not be used. An advertisement as a whole may be misleading by implication, although every sentence separately considered may be literally true. Misrepresentation may result not only from direct statements, but by omitting or obscuring a material fact. In addition, according to the Missouri state statute 15 CSR 60-7.020 (1): “A seller shall not make a representation or statement of fact in an advertisement that is false or has the capacity to mislead prospective purchasers.”
BBB asked the business to provide substantiation to the claims made on its website. The company initially responded and clarified Vocal References and substantiated the attorneys on its staff. Consumer Law Protection's response did not address BBB's questions regarding its credit repair service or substantiation of its, "Proven Success" claim. The company also did not provide an explanation as to why its testimonials went as far back as 2017 when registration with the Missouri Secretary of State's office was not until 2019. Further, Consumer Law Protection's response did not answer BBB questions regarding affiliations with other businesses.
BBB sent a follow-up letter to the company requesting it address the items still in question. Consumer Law Protection responded but failed to address concerns outlined in BBB's follow-up letter.
