Alert

Based on a recent report from a consumer, Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota believes this is a fraudulent online entity. From previous experience with these types of entities, BBB also believes Pembroke Welsh Corgi Home has no local presence in Minnesota.

The report BBB received involved a situation where the customer was asked to wire money to claim their pet, which is virtually always the sign of an online pet scam. When the consumer asked if he could have a friend see the pups, they state the text messages from Pembroke 'got defensive and said I should look for a puppy elsewhere.'

BBB offers the following tips to avoid online pet selling scams:

*Beware of websites and online (or classified) ads with multiple misspellings and/or grammatical errors. Many pet scams originate overseas, so scammers usually don't have a good grasp of the English language.
*Don't be fooled by a well-designed website. Scammers can easily steal images and details from postings off the websites of legitimate breeders. Always research companies at BBB.org.
*Watch out for requests to wire money. This is virtually always a sign you're dealing with a scammer. Never wire money to someone you haven't met in person.
*Be leery of classified ads that promise cheap or free pets for adoption. These offers sound good, until the scammers tell you your pet is at the airport but you'll have to pay unexpected fees to move forward with the adoption process. The fees continue to mount and people eventually realize these offers were not legitimate.
*Watch out for situations where you're asked to wire funds to unknown third-parties for shipping or transportation. These are often other fraudulent entities working in tandem with the supposed pet seller.
