Alert
In December 2022, BBB investigated White Mountain Partners. This is our second investigation, prompted when customer complaints mailed to PO Box 142 in Rochester Hills, MI were returned by US Postal Service marked "Attempted-Not Known", and indication that the PO box does not belong to the business. In January 2020, BBB noted a different invalid PO box number was used on the website and mail offer. The phone number and key elements of the website and mail offer remain essentially the same.
According to complaints, consumers receive a "pre-approved" debt consolidation loan offer with a low interest rate. Consumers told BBB that they were not approved for the loan and instead were solicited to enroll in a debt relief program from a different company. One consumer told BBB that after he gave his social security number, "[Representative] will not return my phone calls or emails [to] give me any answers to my questions."
According to information in BBB’s files, White Mountain Partners is not a registered business name in the State of Michigan. The business' website does not disclose a physical address for the business. The phone number 800-219-4913 is answered by a call center. A manager at the call center told BBB that their office is physically located in New York, and that they answer calls for other similar entities. The manager would only provide PO Box 142 Rochester Hills, MI 48307 when BBB asked for the physical mailing address of the business. BBB received no response to our email inquiry; however, it appears that our email was read.
A search for the domain www.whitemountainpartners.com/ on WhoIs, a database of internet domains, indicates the site was registered on 10/08/19 using GoDaddy, and the registrant's name is not disclosed. Disclosures on the business' website indicate the business is a paid marketing lead generator, not a lender in any transaction. BBB noted the Disclosures page claims "Last Update 06/19/2018", a date that is prior to the date of the website's registration.
BBB has exhausted all forms of communication with the business. Consumers with outstanding concerns are encouraged to file a complaint for BBB records, including copies of direct mail when possible. Consumers may also wish to contact the Michigan Attorney General's Office: File a Complaint | phone 517-241-6500.
