Investigations
In February 2020, BBB investigated Lamon Beauty's business practices. This investigation was prompted by complaints received in January and February of 2020. Complainants allege that they purchased items online from lamonbeauty.com, but received different items than purchased. According to complainants they were unable to reach the business to obtain the correct product.
On 2/12/2020, BBB checked the website lamonbeauty.com to determine when it was created and where it was registered. The website was created on 9/25/2019 and the registrant name/information was not disclosed.
On 2/13/2020, BBB confirmed by calling the property management company, that the address listed on the contact us page of the website is not real.
On 2/14/2020, BBB also reviewed the website and social media accounts. The website and social media accounts indicate the company is located in Hong Kong. No foreign address is provided.
On 2/14/2020, BBB identified another website, prettymera.com, which is nearly identical to lamonbeauty.com. BBB checked the website prettymera.com to determine when it was created and where it was registered. The website was created on 10/21/2020 and the registrant name/information was not disclosed.
On 2/14/2010, BBB reviewed lamonbeauty.com for advertising concerns. Concerns include:
*The "About Us" section indicates that the business started in 2013, however the website domain was registered in September 2019.
*The business indicates they "test every tiny contact lenses through complicated processes, which even includes soaking these lenses in boiling water to 100% ensure that they can maintain well in some hot / bad environment." BBB could not confirm that this is an accepted process for testing contact lenses.
*The business indicates that all of their contact lenses are made in their own factory. BBB could not confirm that this business has its own factory.
*The checkout screen does not provide consumers with an option to upload their contact lens prescription. The FDA advises that while consumers are not breaking any laws by purchasing contact lenses without a copy of their prescription, the company is selling a prescription device as if it were an over-the-counter device, which "misbrands" it. The FDA also advises that a company may be in violation of FTC regulations if it is selling contact lenses without requesting a prescription. Consumers can more here:
