Federal Trade Commission v. Passport Imports, Inc, et al
The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.
On October 10, 2018, Passport Imports, Inc, et al (Passport) entered into a Settlement Agreement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) resolving allegations in a Complaint for Permanent Injunction filed in the US District Court for the District of Maryland (Southern Division). The agreement settles allegations that Passport violated Section 5 of the FTC Act by sending marketing materials to consumers designed to look like Safety Recall Notices. The signed order prohibits Passport from misrepresenting a vehicle's safety recall or service campaign status, as well as any other material facts about motor vehicles. The agreement was for settlement purposes only and should not be considered as an admission of guilt or finding of violation of the law.
