18th Judicial District of KS vs. Vonchel S. Gill and Signature Remodeling
On December 23, 2024, Vonchel S. Gill, owner of Signature Remodeling, was found to be in willful violation of a consent judgment he entered with the Office of the Sedgwick County District Attorney. The DA’s Consumer Protection Division (CPD) filed a motion against Gill, arguing that he failed to make payments, provide his tax return and refund, as he agreed to do in his June 2023 consent judgment. The court ruled Gill violated the consent agreement and ordered the full balance of the judgment, $60,322.83, to be due and owed immediately and imposed an additional civil penalty of $20,000. Gill’s license to do business in the State of Kansas was suspended and he was temporarily restrained from engaging in consumer transactions involving home remodeling until the total judgment is paid. In the original case filed against Gill and Signature Remodeling, the CPD alleged he violated the Kansas Consumer Protection Act (KCPA) by failing to provide a material benefit to two consumers and falsely represented he was a licensed contractor. While Gill denied intentionally violating the KCPA, he accepted the consent judgment to settle the case. The judgment placed Gill on a 72-month probationary period with the CPD, requiring that he make $350 monthly payments and provide his tax return and refund.
