On 1-3-20, the BBB began investigating after receiving a complaint from a consumer who reported being hired by this business, paying $2,500 for work supplies, then having the $2,450 check he received from the business bounce. In addition, the BBB received four Scam Tracker reports from consumers who said they had applied for Markline jobs on Upwork. When they were hired, they were instructed to deposit checks the business had sent to them which were to pay for work-related equipment, but the checks bounced. One consumer reported being instructed to buy Amazon gift cards. The business's owner filed a police report stating he had been contacted by 30 to 35 people who wanted to know if the job listing was legitimate.
Markline Technologies was formed in 1996 and is in "good standing" with the Kansas Secretary of State's Office. Its website was registered in 1997. The BBB's investigation concluded that the business is legitimate. Nevertheless, the BBB is warning consumers about job listings posted by Markline Technologies.
