Alert

In May2024, BBB investigated Jaguar Gene Therapy's business practices. This investigation was prompted by a scam tracker inquiry regarding a consumer believing that the she was being hired legitimately but alleges this business was a hiring scam.

Per the consumer "It was 2 hours on the phone. I passed all the questions and was hired. Then told that I would get a check to put all this stuff in my house to work remote. That was a red flag. Said she would send a check in the mail with tracking number. I was to report the next morning online to meet with her. She didn't show up."

Important Information

Advertising Review

BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising. These claims may come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints and competitor challenges. BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers more clear to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements.

The BBB has asked the business to substantiate that they are currently in service and to provide documentation as required by BBB’s Code of Advertising.

The business advertised the following product on their website:

https://jaguargenetherapy.com/

“Focus on product purity

and patient safety.

We are rapidly advancing an initial pipeline of gene therapies for serious diseases with major unmet needs in sizable patient populations.”

“Join our team.

We hire the best because we know our success directly impacts the patients, families and communities we serve. Jaguars do gene therapy better than everyone else.”

The BBB Code of Advertising States:

1. Basic Principles of the Code

1.1 The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.

1.2 Advertisements which are untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, or insincere offers to sell, shall not be used.

1.3 An advertisement as a whole may be misleading by implication, although every sentence separately considered may be literally true.

1.4 Misrepresentation may result not only from direct statements, but by omitting or obscuring a material fact.

As of 6/11/2024, business has not responded to BBB emails or substantiated claims.
