In March 2022, BBB investigated United Nation Van Lines’ business practices. This investigation was prompted by a large volume of complaints which impacted the business’ rating and unable to locate ownership information. During the investigation, the BBB has found discrepancies in the information on file and a letter has been sent to the business via email on 3/30/2022 requesting information to ensure that BBB has the most accurate information.
As of 4/6/2022, the BBB and United Nation Van Lines was actively working together to resolve the matters brought to the business' attention. As of 5/6/2022, United Nation Van Lines has stopped responding to the BBB and have not provided the requested information about their business such as ownership, location, contracts, and more.

BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising. BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers more clear to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements.
On 3/30/2022, BBB contacted the business regarding their advertising on their website and requested that they substantiate the claims to meet BBB Code of Advertising.
On the company’s website (https://www.unitednationvanlines.com/), it states:
“Compare Prices…Premium quality affordable prices”
“Save up to 25% on your move”
The BBB requested that they provide information regarding what prices are being compared to and what the prices are. In addition, the BBB requested an explanation how consumers save up to 25% and the lowest percentage that consumers can save.
On another page their website (https://www.unitednationvanlines.com/about-us/) it states:
“We use the simplest and most effective process for interstate moving”
“It is a proven process that adheres to our Core values and keeps in-house expenses low. On average, our prices are an average of 30% lower than any of the major carriers. Customer satisfaction rates, on the other hand, are a heck of a lot higher and we have thousands of 5-star reviews to prove it”
The BBB requested substantiation of these claims.
On the same page, the business has a section titled “Please check Our Reviews”, with an image of 5-stars for Thumbtack and BusinessRater. However, when clicking on these images, the links do not show that United Nation Van Lines has 5-stars. The BBB requested that the business provide the correct links to show that United Nation Van Lines have 5 stars on these review sites.
The BBB Code of Advertising states:
1. Basic Principles of the Code
1.1 The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.
1.2 Advertisements which are untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, or insincere offers to sell, shall not be used.
1.3 An advertisement as a whole may be misleading by implication, although every sentence separately considered may be literally true.
1.4 Misrepresentation may result not only from direct statements, but by omitting or obscuring a material fact.
11. “Up to” price savings claims
11.1 Where a savings claim (for example, “save up to 40%”) covers a group of items with a range of savings, the number of items available at the maximum savings must comprise a significant percentage, at a minimum 10%, of all the items in the offering, unless local, state or provincial law requires otherwise.
11.2 To avoid confusion or any possible deception, an advertiser should consider including a disclosure of both the minimum and maximum savings available under the offer. In such an instance, the advertiser must avoid any undue or misleading display of the maximum.
34. Claimed Results
Claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data.
