BBB offers the following tips to avoid timeshare resale scams:

Research potential buyers and closing agents by viewing their business profiles at bbb.org.
Search BBB's Scam Tracker
Avoid businesses that request an upfront fee.
Contact the resort or organization that originally sold the timeshare to see if they have knowledge of any ongoing scams.
Check with your state's real estate commission or other licensing board to ensure that the individuals you are working with are properly licensed or in possession of the necessary credentials.
Look for businesses that provide a physical address (a PO box is not sufficient).
Do not wire monies to any oversea banks.
Avoid doing business with buyers who refuse to meet in-person.

If you've believe you have been scammed, BBB encourages to report their experiences:

File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), as well as the state's Attorney General.
Submit complaints and reviews to the Better Business Bureau and submit tips through BBB Scam Tracker.
Consumers approached through the internet may want to file a complaint with IC3 (FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center).

Additional Complaint Information

In August 2020, BBB received a complaint filed against Viable-Market Solutions concerning advertising issues. Below is the pending complaint:

"I am the ********* ******** of the Sun City Center Area Chamber of Commerce. Several would be customers of Viable-Market Solutions have contacted me to let me know that Viable-Market solutions is using the chamber's address and business license number to try to perpetrate a fraudulent scheme to buy unwanted time shares. This scheme requires time share owners to first send in money in order for Viable-Market Solutions to proceed with the sales process. In each case, when the would be customers questioned why they are using the address and licence of a Chamber of commerce, they were told we are working closely together. The chamber is not working with Viable-Market Solutions. I had never even heard of them until these would be customers got in touch with me to check out this fraud. And they certainly do not reside in the chamber's rented office in Sun City Center, Florida. The name we have for the contact at Viable-Market Solutions is Jennifer Martin.

The chamber wants them to stop using our business license and address in their scheme. There will be some victim who will not check them out and the address and license will lead them back to the chamber as the perpetrator."
