Important Information
Advertising Review
In October 2023, BBB contacted Indoor & Outdoor Services regarding claims in its advertising.
Its website includes the following statements:
"Landscape Safe Guarantee."
"Results are guaranteed by a warranty and the service prolongs the value and functionality of your roof by clearing it of intruders and restoring the original color."
"Water based sealers create a barrier against the elements and are guaranteed to last."
Under the BBB Code of Advertising, when using the terms guarantee and warranty, the advertiser must clearly and conspicuously include a statement that the complete details can be seen prior to sale. These details must disclose any material limitations on the guarantee or warranty. The business did not add the terms of its guarantee or warranty to its advertising or modify the statements.
The business states that it is "Certified on the latest methods for treating home and business exteriors." The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB. The business did not respond to BBB's request that it provide proof of any current certifications.
Its website states that the business provides "Eco-Friendly solutions for all services performed" and "We use a gentle mix of biodegradable solutions to target dirt, mildew and algae." Advertisers should not make broad, unqualified general environmental benefit claims like “green” or “eco-friendly.” General claims must be qualified with specific environmental benefit, and the benefit(s) should be significant. Advertisers must possess competent and reliable evidence (often scientific evidence) to support all environmental benefit claims. Qualifications for any claim must be clear, conspicuous and understandable. Advertisers may make an unqualified degradable claim if they have competent and reliable scientific evidence that the entire product or package will completely break down and return to nature within a reasonably short period of time after customary disposal. Advertisers must qualify, clearly and conspicuously, degradable claims to the extent necessary to avoid confusion about the product's or package's ability to degrade in the environment where it is customarily disposed or the rate and extent of degradation. The business did not respond to BBB's request that it make adjustments to its claims.
