Important Information
Advertising Review
In January 2024, BBB contacted Next Level Floor Care regarding claims in its advertising.
The following statements appear on the company's website:
"Norwalk CT Best & Highest Rated Carpet Cleaning Company"
"The #1 Carpet Cleaning Company in Norwalk CT with 100+ 5-star Reviews!"
"We have an annual outdoor upholstery cleaning program. We do hundreds of these each year and are Fairfield’s number one source for outdoor upholstery cleaning"
Because statements such as these can be proved or disproved, consumers may try to verify this status by looking for data to confirm how these rankings were determined. Such claims require substantiation or modification.
Its website and online advertising include claims related to environmental benefits, including:
"That’s why our Fiber Protector is 100% safe for both humans and pets, free from harmful chemicals, and environmentally friendly"
"Our procedure uses heat, an environmentally friendly cleaning solution, and powerful agitation to remove the dirt that homeowners can’t."
According to the BBB Code of Advertising, advertisers should not make broad, unqualified general environmental benefit claims like “green” or “eco-friendly.” General claims must be qualified with specific environmental benefits and the benefits should be significant. Advertisers must possess competent and reliable evidence (often scientific evidence) to support all environmental benefit claims. Qualifications for any claim must be clear, conspicuous and understandable. Unless clear from the context, any environmental claim must specify clearly and conspicuously whether the claim applies to the product, the product’s packaging, a service or just to a portion of the product, package or service.
Its website also states that "We use premium cleaners that are completely soap free, non-toxic and green seal certified. That means they are the safest and most effective carpet cleaning products on the planet." Non-toxic claims likely convey that a product, package or service is non-toxic both for humans and for the environment generally. Thus advertisers must either possess competent and reliable scientific evidence that this is the case or clearly and conspicuously qualify the claim to avoid confusion.
Its advertising also states:
"We are certified, knowledgeable, and experienced in everything carpet and upholstery cleaning"
"We have been trained and certified by the IICRC in all the services we provide."
Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. BBB requested substantiation for the certified claims.
The business responded that they '..intend to keep the recommendations in mind for the near future as we continue to refine our advertising strategies.' To date, no changes have been made to the claims.
