On November 6, 2020, BBB requested that the business modify its website to be in compliance with the BBB Code of Advertising.
Specifically, BBB noted a large graphic that reads, “100% Satisfaction Guaranteed” on the business’s website. BBB requested that the business revise their website to be in compliance with the applicable provisions within the BBB Code of Advertising. The BBB Code of Advertising addresses warranty issues in Section 20.
In order to comply with the Code of Advertising, BBB asked that the business remove references to the guarantee from their website and other marketing materials, or simply explain the conditions and limitations of the guarantee by displaying those conditions somewhere conspicuous on the website.
BBB also noted multiple references to the company being “green” and avoiding “harmful chemicals.”
Section 36 of the BBB Code of Advertising addresses Environmental Claims.
BBB requested that the business qualify their general “green” claims with specific benefits and that they substantiate these benefits with competent and reliable evidence.
The business initially responded to BBB regarding the above concerns on November 19, 2020, indicating they would revise their website to comply with our requests. BBB maintained contact through emails to the business on January 22, February 24, and March 16, 2021. The business indicated on March 31, 2021 that they still intend to make the requested changes to their website; however, they did not have an estimate for when these revisions would be implemented.
