Additional Information for Cornerstone Botanicals

On February 26 and March 6, 2020, BBB requested that Cornerstone Botanicals modify its website to be in compliance with the BBB Code of Advertising.

The business’s website features claims regarding the health benefits of CBD Oil.

For example, the page titled, "CBD For Athletes," contains statements such as, "...hemp oil products have shown to reduce inflammation, treat arthritis, and help manage anxiety."

The same page contains a graphic that details specific health benefits that athletes can expect when using CBD.

The pages for "Seniors" and "Pets" contain similar claims.

The page titled, "Benefits of CBD" also contains numerous health benefit claims such as, "An extensive body of research has indicated that CBD extract can be a highly effective mood stabilizer, making it a viable option for helping with a wide variety of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and even addiction."

Section 34 of the BBB Code of Advertising addresses Claimed Results, where it states, "Claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data."

BBB requested that the business review their website advertising and provide substantiation based on reliable, recent, competent testing for each of the health claims made and to discontinue any advertising that is in violation of FDA and FTC mandates for this industry.

The business indicated that they were not willing to make the requested changes or provide the necessary substantiation at this time but may revisit the issue when they have more time to do so.
