Alert

On April 9, 2021, a consumer alerted Better Business Bureau to a Craigslist Scam and fraudulent shipping company operating as Trust Shipping Group. The Craigslist Scam offered a 2014 Jayco Grayhawk Class C motorhome for $27,500.00 and directed interested buyers to contact Arianne French at arianne.french@infoarianne.com.

Upon contacting the Arianne French, the consumer learned the motorhome was being sold due to a lack of use and was being stored at Trust Shipping Group. Arianne French said she was, “out of the country” and she directed the consumer to contact, “John” at Trust Shipping Group to arrange the sale and shipping of the motorhome.

Once contacting, “John”, the consumer was directed to wire the money to a company operating as, “Coinbase” where it would be held in escrow until the motorhome was delivered to the consumer. They further told the consumer that once delivery of the motorhome had been made, the consumer had ten days to inspect it and agree to the sale price; if the consumer agreed to make the purchase, Coinbase would transfer the money to the seller to finalize the sale.

The consumer reported a financial loss of $27,500.00 and the telephone numbers for John at Trust Shipping Group and Arianne French have been disconnected.

Trust Shipping Group, http://trust-shipping-group.us/contact-us, advertises an address of 2860 Tejon Street Englewood, Colorado 80110, telephone 888-470-1580. The Colorado Secretary of State reports Trust Shipping Group is not a licensed business in the state of Colorado and they have no records to indicate this business ever existed in Colorado.

On April 19, 2021, BBB reached out to the business regarding the consumer complaint. The United States Postal Service returned the mail to BBB and it was stamped as being undeliverable.

Consumers wishing to purchase a vehicle online or through classified advertisements should not wire funds in advance of physically inspecting the vehicle, confirming the vehicle has a clear Title, and meeting the seller or broker in person.

Complaints can be filed with Better Business Bureau at www.bbb.org as well as with the Attorney General’s Office in the state where the consumer resides.
