On February 1, 2017, BBB requested Coastal Subscription Agency substantiate or discontinue offers to sell through door-to-door solicitations.
According to BBB Code of Advertising 1. Basic Principles of the Code;
1.2 Advertisements which are untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, or insincere offers to sell, shall not be used.
BBB has received information indicating that consumers fail to receive advertised products after they have submitted payment in full. BBB requested Coastal Subscription Agency substantiate their offer to sell by providing documentation that shows consumers have in fact received their orders. If they were unable to substantiate, BBB requested the business discontinue this offer and any future offers like it to adhere to BBB Code of Advertising. The business did not respond to BBB concerns.

BBB has received information Coastal Subscription Agency, LLC solicits consumers door-to-door while attempting to gain empathy, which encourages consumers to help the independent contractors of the business who are young adults looking for business opportunities. In addition, many consumers inform BBB they do not receive the magazine subscription they have paid for. Upon contact with the business to inquire about current business practices, Coastal Subscription Agency, LLC did not respond to BBB.
Consumers who wish to request a refund from the business must contact the business in writing, as the business website at www.coastalsubscriptions.com/faq.php states:
“We are unable to accept cancellations online or by phone since it can take 7 to 10 days before your order information has been received from the independent contractor and entered into our systems.
So we require all notices of cancellation, which can can found on the back of your sales receipt, to be filled out completely and mailed to the address provided on the receipt.
All mailed cancellation requests must be postmarked within three business days from the date of sale to be eligible for cancellation and to receive any potential refund.”
