- Additional Info:This company came to our attention on February 27, 2013 when a consumer reported having a received a letter listing their deed number and recommending that landowners keep a certified copy of the deed on hand as evidence that the property was transferred properly. The letter conveys a sense of urgency. The tone suggests homeowners have to get this. Consumers are advised their county recorders office keeps their deeds on file forever. Consumers can request a certified copy of their deed from their recorders office if they need it, for about $3.00, depending upon the number of pages.
According to one consumer, the company mailed a very official looking document with an amount due or Service Fee of $87.00, which arrived after a home closing. The document had the property ID and claimed the fee was for providing a copy of the Grant Deed. The letter indicates having a copy would provide proof the property just purchased was transferred.
Homeowners can obtain a copy of their deed by contacting the County Court Clerk in which the property is located. In some cases there is little to no cost in obtain a copy of your deed.
