On August 19, 2019, in the Circuit Court of Pulaski County, the Attorney General for the State of Arkansas filed a civil suit against Jayson Cotter, owner of Investment Grade Firearms (IGF), for violations of the Arkansas Deceptive Trade Practices Act. The suit alleges that consumers from across the nation hired Cotter for gunsmith work, but he habitually failed to return consumers' parts or firearms and refused to provide refunds of upfront payments. The following describes a pending government action that has been formally brought by a government agency but has not yet been resolved. We are providing a summary of the government's allegations, which have not yet been proven.
On August 8, 2019, the Prosecuting Attorney for the 14th Judicial Circuit Court of Baxter County, Arkansas filed criminal charges against Jayson Lee Cotter, for Theft of Property. Over the past five to six months, numerous incident reports were filed with the Baxter County Sheriff's Department (BCSD) and the office of the Arkansas Attorney General, alleging that multiple victims paid in advance for work to be done on firearms and firearm parts. Consumer reports filed with the Sheriff's Office stated the same problem; they left numerous emails and calls to the Defendant and never heard back from him. Some cases go back as far as 2016. During a search of the residence, the BCSD found items matching consumer reports, but could not determine if any work had been done. The value of the property is $25,000 or more.
