Ad Review
On December 19, 2019 and on two other occasions, BBB contacted Mama's Little Movers requesting substantiation of their advertising claims found on their Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/mamass-little-movers-317926638545990/, in which they claim to be "licensed and insured", along with offering the "Lowest Prices in NWA".
BBB believes that the use of terms such as "licensed and insured" has a significant impact on a consumer's decision to work with one company or another. Consumers believe that this statement provides assurances of a company's competency, authority to do work in their community, financial responsibility, and recourse should damage or other issues arise. As it pertains to the moving industry, carriers are required to be licensed by the Arkansas Department of Transportation for Intrastate moves and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for Interstate moves. BBB was unable to verify licensing. The BBB Code of Advertising states that, "The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB." "Misrepresentation may result not only from direct statements, but by omitting or obscuring a material fact."
The company also claims to offer the "Lowest Prices in NWA". Per the BBB Code of Advertising, despite an advertiser's best efforts to ascertain competitive prices, the rapidity with which prices fluctuate and the difficulty of determining prices of all sellers at all times preclude an absolute knowledge of the truth of unqualified underselling/lowest price claims.
As of February 19, 2020, the business has not responded to our request for advertising substantiation.
